The history of radon effects on health goes back in time hundreds of years to the “mountain sickenss” affecting miners. It took a long time to establish the cause of the sickness killing the miners as radiation from radon daughters.

The history of how scientists and officials become aware of the influence radon has on indoor air quality is much shorter, starting in the early 1980s.
